چکیده

It has recently been shown that many networks associated with complex systems are small-world (they have both a large local clustering and a small average distance and diameter) and they are also scale-free (the degrees are distributed according to a power-law). Moreover, these networks are very often hierarchical, as they describe the modularity of the systems which are modeled. While most of the studies for complex networks are based on stochastic methods, a deterministic approach, with an exact determination of the main relevant parameters of the networks, has proven useful to complement and enhance the probabilistic and simulation techniques and therefore to provide a better understanding of the systems modeled. In this paper we find the diameter, clustering and degree distribution of a generic family of deterministic hierarchical small-world scale-free networks which has been considered for modeling real life complex systems. ∗Research supported by the Secretaria de Estado de Universidades e Investigación (Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia), Spain, and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under project TEC2005-03575

The Properties of Tree-Like Hierarchical Networks

Tree-like hierarchical structure is one of the key features in many real complex systems. To investigate its properties, a deterministic tree-like hierarchical network model is proposed. Next, the static properties of the tree-like hierarchical networks are discussed. The simulation and theoretical results prove that the artificial tree-like networks conformably possess small-world and scalefre...

Implicational Scaling of Reading Comprehension Construct: Is it Deterministic or Probabilistic?

In English as a Second Language Teaching and Testing situations, it is common to infer about learners’ reading ability based on his or her total score on a reading test. This assumes the unidimensional and reproducible nature of reading items. However, few researches have been conducted to probe the issue through psychometric analyses. In the present study, the IELTS exemplar module C (1994) wa...

A Deterministic Multiple Key Space Scheme for Wireless Sensor Networks via Combinatorial Designs

The establishing of a pairwise key between two nodes for encryption in a wireless sensor network is a challenging issue. To do this, we propose a new deterministic key pre-distribution scheme which has modified the multiple key space scheme (MKSS). In the MKSS, the authors define two random parameters to make better resilience than existing schemes. Instead of a random selection of these parame...

Single ‎A‎ssignment Capacitated Hierarchical Hub Set Covering Problem for Service Delivery Systems Over Multilevel Networks

The present study introduced a novel hierarchical hub set covering problem with capacity constraints. This study showed the significance of fixed charge costs for locating facilities, assigning hub links and designing a productivity network. The proposed model employs mixed integer programming to locate facilities and establish links between nodes according to the travel time between an origin-...

A Hierarchical Classification of First-Order Recurrent Neural Networks

We provide a decidable hierarchical classification of first-order recurrent neural networks made up of McCulloch and Pitts cells. This classification is achieved by proving an equivalence result between such neural networks and deterministic Büuchi automata, and then translating the Wadge classification theory from the abstract machine to the neural network context. The obtained hierarchy of ne...
